‘Sleepy Hollow’ Casts Tom Mison As Ichabod Crane
Tom Mison has been cast as Ichabod Crane in the Fox pilot Sleepy Hollow.
The 30-year-old British actor previously appeared in One Day as Callum and in Salmon Fishing in the Yemen as Capt. Robert Mayers.
Fox’s modern day adaptation of TheLegend of Sleepy Hollow is written by Alex Kurtzman, Bob Orci, and Phillip Iscove, and directed by Len Wiseman. The drama pilot follows Crane as he partners with Sleepy Hollow’s detective Abbie Archer (Shame actress Nicole Beharie), who has witnessed the murder of her partner, Sheriff August Grey.
MADtv alum Orlando Jones will star as Lieutenant Frank Williams, who has transferred to the town to investigate a double murder. Dexter‘s Katia Winter will play Katrina Crane, Ichabod’s wife.
Another Sleepy Hollow remake is in the works over at the CW. In the CW series, from Missing writers Patrick Macmanus and Grant Scharbo, Crane is an FBI agent sent to Sleepy Hollow to investigate a beheading.
Both series are based on Washington Irving’s short story The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. The eponymous town is known for its ghosts, with the most famous being the Headless Horseman, a Hessian soldier who had his head shot off by a stray cannonball during the Revolutionary War. A young man named Ichabod Crane, a schoolteacher from Connecticut, comes to the town hoping to marry Katrina Van Tassel, who is the daughter of a wealthy farmer. Ichabod sees a marriage to Katrina as a way to secure his fortune.
A big screen adaptation of the short story, also titled Sleepy Hollow, was released in 1999 and starred Johnny Depp as Ichabod Crane. The film version had a similar premise as the CW pilot, and followed Crane as he is sent to the town to investigate three decapitations attributed to the Headless Horseman.
