‘Arrested Development’ Will Only Run For One Season On Netflix
Arrested Development will only run for one season on Netflix.
Company CEO Reed Hastings said during a recent investor call that the cult television series was a “one-off” production. He described the fourth season of Arrested Development as a “non-repeatable” event.
According to The Verge, the company hadn’t revealed much about what would happen to the series beyond the upcoming season. However, it would that additional seasons are currently off the table.
It doesn’t appear that Netflix is against the idea of producing more episodes of Arrested Development. At the end of the day, it comes down to wrangling the cast together for another go-around.
A Netflix spokesperson told The Wall Street Journal that it would be “extremely difficult to get the cast together.” As a result, fans of the program shouldn’t hold their breathe for a fifth season to come along at any point in the near future.
Although Arrested Development may not live past the fourth season on the small screen, co-star Jason Bateman told Empire Online that fans should be very happy with the new episodes.
Bateman explained:
“We’re done shooting it and it was great. Also, it will be extremely complicated for the viewers. 14 episodes, all separate, with each character getting their own episode, but all the action happens simultaneously.”
He added:
“So you can stop my episode at the very moment that, say, Gob rides by on his Segway and then click into his episode and follow him. I don’t know how Mitchell Hurwitz wrote it, shot it or scheduled it, I don’t know how he’s editing it but it’ll be amazing, I think.”
Netflix is banking on the show being a huge hit. The company enjoyed some recent success with its political drama House of Cards starring Kevin Spacey.
