Jacoby Jones On DWTS: Super Bowl Hero To Give Dancing A Shot
Jacoby Jones will be on DWTS this season, giving the Baltimore Ravens wide receiver a chance to add a gold mirror ball to his Super Bowl trophy.
Producers for Dancing With the Stars announced that Jones will be the newest contestant on the show, the first named in the cast for the show’s new season. ABC used a commercial during the Academy Awards broadcast to announce that Jacoby Jones will be on DWTS.
The rest of the cast will be named Tuesday on Good Morning America, Fox Sports noted. The show premieres March 18.
Jacoby Jones is known for his light-footed celebration in the end zone after a touchdown, and now has a chance to be the fourth NFL player to win DWTS. Previous seasons have been won by fellow wide receivers Hines Ward and Donald Driver, and running back Emmitt Smith took home a DWTS trophy as well.
Jones is coming off a heroic performance in the Super Bowl, catching one touchdown and running a kick back for a record 108 yards,
Jacoby Jones addressed the prospect of appearing on DWTS earlier this month on an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Here is a partial transcript, via Yahoo! Sports:
Kimmel: Would you consider being on Dancing With The Stars? As a representative of the ABC television network, I would like to offer you the chance to compete on Dancing With The Stars. What do you think about that?
Jones: Let me ask you this: Do polar bears poo on ice?
Kimmel: I’m relatively sure that they do, although I’ve not witnessed it …
Jones: I hope they don’t do it in water, that would be nasty!
Kimmel: So you would do that (go on DWTS)?”
Jones: Oh yes sir … I’ll get it done. I’ll get it done, baby.
