‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ Movie To Be Released In 2014

The Fifty Shades Of Grey movie could be released as early as next summer, says the chairman of Universal Pictures.

The trio of novels, which look at the sexual relationship between the businessman Christian Grey and the college graduate Anastasia Steele, have sold over 65 million copies across the globe. The British author of these books, EL James, sold the rights to Universal Pictures and Focus Features in March 2012.

Kelly Marcel, the writer behind the television series, Terra Nova, was hired in October 2012 to scribe the script; however, there has still be no casting or production decisions announced.

Adam Fogelson, the chairman of Universal Pictures, told The Hollywood Reporter, “I don’t believe that [EL James] had any interest in going to studio where rushing it into production was the vision. I don’t believe that the second or third film would have benefited from that strategy. And I think that there are totally legitimate questions about what this book is as a movie.”

Fogelson also confirmed that the film is one of the studios main projects, stating, “I will tell you that it is an absolute priority for us. It’s conceivable that we could be ready to release it as early as next summer.”

The casting rumors for the film have continued to circulate with the likes of Mila Kunis, Emma Watson, and Krysten Ritter linked to the role of Anastasia Steele, whilst Henry Cavill, Ryan Gosling, and Channing Tatum have been linked with Christian Grey.
