Nicole Scherzinger: ‘I Turned Down Rihanna’s We Found Love’
Nicole Scherzinger has revealed that she originally turned down the opportunity to record “We Found Love” with Calvin Harris, which was ultimately sung by Rihanna.
Talking to Notion magazine, the former Pussycat Dolls singer, noted, “I passed on “We Found Love.” I got the demo of that song and I was busy at the time.
The songstress added, “They’d sent me a few dance tracks and I wasn’t able to get to them and I was like, ‘Oh, there’s so much dance and I want to take from it’.”
Scherzinger then decided to deliberate over her decision, before ultimately passing on it. “That my fault. I slept on it,” stated Lewis Hamilton’s girlfriend.
The X-Factor judge also revealed that she turned down the chance to record Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy” song, whilst during her time with The Pussycat Dolls the group decided to say no to “Just Dance,” which was later released by Lady Gaga to huge acclaim.
Calvin Harris’ “We Found Love” was also recorded by British X-Factor winner Leona Lewis, who sang the track first but then when Lewis wanted to release a different track first from her third album, the song was given to Rihanna instead.
Rihanna’s “We Found Love” went on to become one of the biggest-selling singles of all time. Around 6.5million copies of the song were sold whilst it also reached the number one spot in 25 countries.
