Daughter Abused By Father, Currently In Critical Condition
Paso Robles, CA – A man’s 2-year-old daughter is in critical condition after suffering abuse from her father, according to police. The suspect has been identified as 29-year-old Herbert Brown III.
The Paso Robles Police and Fire Department responded to a report of the young girl not breathing at around 5 am Monday. The Tribune reported that the 2-year-old suffered injuries to her head and body. Police believe the girl’s injuries are a result of child abuse.
Tina Higginbotham, a neighbor of Brown’s, said, “I mean I cannot even imagine, something so defenseless, to be harmed like that … that’s so scary.”
“Through further investigation, it revealed there was something else beyond an accident, that there was child abuse involved,” said Chief Robert Burton of the Paso Robles Police Department.
Police aren’t giving any more details on the girl’s injuries but have said that they appear to be life threatening.
Burton continued, “She’s in critical condition, she was initially transported to Templeton Twin Cities Hospital, but then taken up to the bay area to be evaluated for her condition … Our hearts go out to this child and other family members that are involved and we’re hoping for a recovery.”
According to KCOY, a central coast news station, Brown is currently in the San Luis Obispo County Jail and is facing charges for abusing his daughter that will likely lead to the young girl’s death. Brown is being held with a $130,000 bail.
