Joe Biden To America: Buy A Shotgun [Video]
Joe Biden loves his shotgun.
The vice president, and the head of the president’s gun control task force, made his feelings clear during a ParentsMagazineonline town hall on Facebook.
He also revealed, like his boss, that he is not used to fielding hard questions.
In response to one question about the Obama administration’s end game for its gun control agenda, Biden insisted that the legislation he is trying to promote will not lead to any gun bans per se or infringing on the Second Amendment.
The Obama administration is not trying to ban guns, he claimed. He explained that he is a gun owner. He has two shotguns with shells in a locked cabinet at home for self defense. “No one is going to take my gun … no one is going to take anyone’s gun,” he declared.
As vice president, of course, Biden gets around-the-clock Secret protection. As a member of the 1%, he is also wealthy enough to afford private security once he leaves office.
Another Facebook user asked Biden if banning certain weapons and high-capacity ammunition clips would make law-abiding citizens more at risk from criminals. “If you want to protect yourself, get a double-barrel shotgun,” Biden recommended.
Biden expressed similar sentiments about his shotgun during a Google+ fireside hangout earlier this month.
In today’s town hall event, Biden explained (at least when they are not in D.C.), he and his wife live in an secluded, upscale section of Wilmington, Delaware (see video):
“I said, ‘Jill, if there’s ever a problem, just walk out on the balcony … take that double-barrel shotgun and fire two blasts outside the house’ …. You don’t need an AR-15. It’s harder to aim, it’s harder to use and in fact, you don’t need 30 rounds to protect yourself … buy a shotgun, buy a shotgun.”
During the town hall, Biden also asserted that “the Constitution does allow the government to conclude that there are certain types of weapons that no one can own.”
Despite all the political rhetoric following the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., Biden earlier this month admitted that the proposed gun control legislation won’t stop mass shootings (see second video below):
“Nothing we’re going to do is going to fundamentally alter or eliminate the possibility of another mass shooting or guarantee that we will bring gun deaths down to a thousand a year to what it is now.”
Do you think that Joe Biden is trying to force a “shotgun marriage” on the American people?
