911 Call For Cigarettes Gets Woman Arrested
A 48-year-old woman called 911 for an emergency cigarette delivery, but, instead of receiving cigarettes, two deputies showed up at her door with a pair of handcuffs and offered the woman a free ride to prison.
According to the Independent Mail, a 48-year-old woman was arrested after she called 911 for a pack of cigarettes. The woman was charged with a misdemeanor count of abuse of 911 and released on $1,000 bond.
CBS reports that the emergency dispatcher asked the woman what her emergency was. The woman responded, “I need cigarettes.”
After that, the operator got the woman’s name and address, presumably to make a cigarette delivery, and sent out two officers to the woman’s home in Granbury.
Hood County sheriff’s Lt. Kathy Jividen said that the woman was “very intoxicated” when she made the call. Jividen also said that the woman was trying to be amusing when she ordered cigarettes from emergency dispatches. She later told police that she “thought it was funny to call 9-1-1 for cigarettes.”
Of course, the Texas officers didn’t find it too amusing.
