‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’ Drops A New International Trailer [Video]
A new international trailer and a TV spot for the upcoming action flick G.I. Joe: Retaliation are now available for mass consumption.
Unless something goes wrong between now and then, director Jon M. Chu will finally see the inside of a darkened theaters this March following a lengthy delay. Both promotional clips set the stage for an action-packed showdown between what’s left of the G.I. Joe squadron and a legion of international terrorists.
G.I. Joe: Retaliation was originally slated to arrive in theaters last summer. However, Paramount decided to yank the flick at the last second in order to give it the 3D treatment. This ultimately bumped the release date into 2013.
According to Slash Film, Chu believes fans will be more than pleased with how the film turned out. He added that the sequel to Stephen Sommers’ 2009 G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra would be well worth the wait.
He explained:
“I really want to push how we use the 3D. Especially since we pushed the movie date, I want to fulfill the promise to the fans that the 3D will be great, and enhances the experience of the movie. So every step of the way, I’m in that room, watching. It’s hurting my eyes, but we’re getting it better, and pushing it further.”
Although the studio claims the conversion to 3D was the reason for the delay, rumors soon started circulating that Channing Tatum was being given a bit more screen time. Since test audiences seemed to respond well to his character, additions were reportedly made to the script as a result. However, none of these rumors have been confirmed.
