‘New Super Mario Bros. U’ Getting ‘Luigi’ DLC Later This Year
New Super Mario Bros. U fans will be able to play through the game as Luigi when new DLC drops later this year.
Although players can control Mario’s brother during the multiplayer experience, battling through the single player campaign as the little guy with the green hat isn’t really an option. According to Kotaku, all of that will change with a proposed DLC pack slated to drop later this year.
Nintendo president Satoru Iwata said the New Super Luigi U expansion will re-work levels so players can enjoy the experience from the character’s point of view. Iwata said players can anticipate the add-on to be around the size of a full game.
Venture Beat explains that New Super Mario Bros. U will feature over 80 levels devoted to Mario’s brother Luigi. Unfortunately, a release date for the DLC has not been penciled in as of this writing. In fact, Iwata hinted it could be a while before the pack is available for purchase.
He said:
“It will take some time. This is coming to the Wii U eShop in this year of Luigi.”
In addition to keeping the release date a secret for the time being, Nintendo is also keeingp the cost of the New Super Luigi DLC close to its chest as well. Given that the company is revamping nearly 80 levels, there’s a chance this expansion could be a bit pricier than most.
Gamers who simply cannot wait to get their hands on a Luigi-related adventure can pick up Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon for the Nintendo 3DS in the very near future. The sequel to the popular Gamecube title will be available on the handheld system beginning March 24.
