Steven Spielberg Makes Rare Red Carpet Appearance At ACE Awards
Steven Spielberg walked the red carpet at the ACE Awards, a rare appearance for the renowned director.
The director appeared on the red carpet along side three beautiful women — his wife, Kate Capshaw; his daughter from a previous marriage, Jessica Capshaw; and his and Kate’s daughter, Destry Allyn Spielberg.
Spielberg and Capshaw met in 1984 on the set of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and seven years later they married. They have seven children between both, and many are following mom and dad into show business.
Jessica, who flanked Steven Spielberg on the red carpet, plays Dr. Arizona Robbins in Grey’s Anatomy.
One of the few children not to get into show biz is 16-year-old Destry, who still looked the part on the red carpet with a full-length black gown. She does have her own interests, however — she’s an avid equestrian and competes on the national level.
Spielberg was being honored at the ceremony with the ACE Golden Eddie Filmmaker of the Year Award. As the Daily Mail noted, Spielberg took the occasion to talk about the importance of editing in the film-making process.
“Editing and directing are almost interchangeable,” Spielberg said. “I’ve always looked at the editing room as the safe haven of second chances … Editors, everybody here: You are my heroes.”
Steven Spielberg may be on another red carpet soon. He is up for best picture at the Academy Awards with his historical drama, Lincoln. The Journal-Sentinel notes that it’s likely to come down to Lincoln and Ben Affleck’s Argo for the top prize.
