‘Happy Endings’ Moved To Friday As ABC Pulls Tuesday Comedy Block Ahead Of Schedule
ABC has pulled its Tuesday comedy block ahead of schedule, moving Happy Endings to Friday and adding a double dose of unscripted reality TV to the lineup.
Starting February 26, Celebrity Wife Swap will take over the 8 pm timeslot that is currently occupied by freshman series The Taste, which will be moved back to 9 pm. The Taste took over what was once occupied by Don’t Trust the B- in Apartment 23 and Happy Endings, which will now be moved to Fridays at 8 pm.
Don’t Trust the B- in Apartment 23 was pulled from the lineup last month.
Happy Endings star Eliza Coupe recently told ET Online that she wished the comedy got more support from ABC:
“It’s a running joke on set when we film something we all think is incredible that someone goes, ‘Oh man, that was so good — it’s too bad no one will ever see it.’ It’s the same as every year, we just never know. The network and the studio love the show, and they have been very good to us. They have given us a chance and kept us around for three seasons. Do we wish there was more publicity? Yeah. But it’s undeniable we’re making a great show. I just wish we had more of a push, and I really hope we get a fourth season — but that’s not up to me.”
Last month, the network pulled the plug on Sunday broadcasts of Happy Endings after canceling the freshman supernatural drama 666 Park Avenue. The comedy had been performing modestly in its Tuesday time slot but dipped to series lows on Sundays.
