Facebook Sexual Predator: Teacher Lured In Boys Using Social Networking
Public school teach Zachary Reeder, 30, has been arrested on suspicion of lewd conduct with a child, child annoyance, and possession and distribution of child pornography.
The Orange County high school teach used Facebook to lure in young male students while asking for nude photos.
According to the Orange County Register, the high school teacher did not have any real life contact with the boys he tricked into sending photos. On Sunday Servite High School, an all-boys Catholic college preparatory in Anaheim announced that Reeder had been fired.
The school teacher targeted boys as young as 14-years-old, convincing them to send sexually graphic photography over the internet.
Zachary Reeder was the social-science teacher at Servite, and he also served as the director of basketball operations.
Before teaching at Servite, the high school teacher served at several other southern California high schools. The other schools where Reeder served have launched their own investigations.
In 2012, Reeder was a walk-on basketball coach at Beckman High School. Reeder passed all necessary background checks to obtain the Beckman position.
Because of his proximity to boys via basketball programs, school administrators have reached out to current and former players to determine if any misconduct occurred in real life.
Zachary Reeder is married with a daughter.
Officials say the Facebook predator does not have a prior criminal record.
Reeder is currently being held with no bail and is in custody at an Orange County jail. Reeder will go in front of a judge on Monday to enter his plea.
