Yoda Might Get His Very Own ‘Star Wars’ Movie
A certain tiny green Jedi master might be getting his own Star Wars movie. Recent rumors suggest that Yoda could get his very own standalone story.
Harry Knowles over at Ain’t It Cool recently stated that Disney and Lucasfilm are very interested in doing standalone Star Wars flicks. The first character to enjoy his or her own movie is Yoda, a character whose back story would certainly make for intriguing cinema.
However, details about the project are few and far between at the moment. Since the flick is in the very early stages of development, there’s always the possibility that Lucasfilm could shift gears and head in a completely different direction.
The Star-Ledger explains that Kathleen Kennedy is currently putting together a slate of possible Star Wars movies. Although Yoda seems to be the studio’s first choice, none of this information has been confirmed by Disney or Lucasfilm. Until that happens, be careful how much stock you put into these rumors.
Not too long ago, word started spreading that Man of Steel director Zack Snyder was putting together a standalone Star Wars flick of his own. The director quickly addressed the rumor, stating that he had no plans to dive into George Lucas’ world at any point in the near future.
However, Lucasfilm has officially tapped Star Trek Into Darkness director J.J. Abrams to bring Star Wars: Episode VII to the big screen. While the studio is hoping to have the movie in theaters at some point in 2015, Abrams revealed that meeting this particular deadline could be problematic.
Since Disney acquired Lucasfilm for a cool $4 billion last year, new rumors about the franchise have been popping up on a fairly regular basis. Nearly every working director in Hollywood was allegedly attached to the project at one point in time.
