Budweiser Foal Gets A Name: Meet Hope
Budweiser held a contest during the Super Bowl in order to name its new foal. Thousands of people voted on Twitter and Facebook and now the baby Clydesdale has a name: Hope.
According to the Star Tribune, Budweiser’s new foal was born on January 16 at the company’s ranch in Missouri. The foal may only be a few weeks old but it has already starred in a Super Bowl commercial and the center of a social media campaign.
Lori Shambro, the brand director of Budweiser, said that the company received more than 60,000 tweets with name suggestions for the baby Clydesdale.
Shambro said:
“We were overwhelmed by the response we got… Many of our fans wanted a name to reflect their optimism and spirit, which the name Hope encapsulates beautifully.:
Shambro said that Hope isn’t the only baby Clydsdale currently on the ranch. A male horse, named Stan after Stan Musial, was born a few days before Hope and a few more horses are expected to be born in the next few days. According to John Soto, supervisor of Warm Springs Ranch, Budweiser expects more than 30 Clydesdales to be born this year.
