Fish McBites Will Soon Be Available In McDonald’s Happy Meals

McDonald’s will reportedly offer Fish McBites in its Happy Meals, the first new addition to the kid’s meal in nearly 10 years.

The fast food chain will begin offering the option this week. According to The Associated Press, the item is available to customers until sometime in March. Although the McBites are only on the menu for a limited time, the company said it could bring them back at some point in the future.

Brian Irwin, director of marketing for McDonald’s USA, explained that children tend to order the chicken nuggets over the cheeseburgers. Since that “poppable” item is all the rage with the kids, the company is hoping they’ll flock to the Fish McBites as well.

The KY Post explains that McDonald’s is looking to boost its sagging profits by offering up a handful of new limited-time items to customers. The company previously announced that Fish McBites would be available for grown-ups in three different sizes.

In addition to the new menu items, McDonald’s will reportedly begin remodeling several locations in an effort to bring people back into the restaurants. The business hours of stores will be extended in certain areas to accommodate more hungry people.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the fast food chain’s fish products have been labeled “sustainable” by the Marine Stewardship Council.

The website explains:

“McDonald’s has signed up with the Marine Stewardship Council to verify all of its fish that gets breaded, fried and sold as ‘Filet-O-Fish’ sandwiches are sustainably certified Alaskan pollock. In exchange for audits of its massive supply chain, McDonald’s each year can sell hundreds of millions of fish sandwiches, and soon-to-be sold Fish McBites, in boxes with the council’s trademarked blue Eco-label.”

If you’re curious to try McDonald’s Fish McBites for yourself, then you’d better act fast. The restaurant will pull the item from its menus this March.
