What Caused Power Outage? More Stadium Epic Fails

After the Super Bowl blackout people are asking, “What caused the power outage?”

The short answer is “they don’t know yet,” but in the meantime we can consider some other epic fails generated by other large stadiums.

As previously reported The Inquisitr, the Super Bowl suffered a power outage with 13:22 left in the third quarter of 2013?s Super Bowl. Immediately following we got to see the longest kickoff return for a Super Bowl by Jacoby Jones, but for the better part of an hour the Superdome was plunged into darkness — along with screens across the US. Despite this epic fail, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said on Monday that the NFL would love to host its biggest and most important event in the New Orleans Superdome again.

What caused the power outage pales in comparison to the question of what were the designers of the Metrodome thinking when they designed a lightweight roof held up by a stream of air in an area where large amounts of snow are known to accumulate. The home of the Minnesota Vikings suffers from a flimsy roof that a few years back collapsed under the weight of the snow pouring down from the sky.

Over in Canada the Rogers Centre is the current home of the Toronto Blue Jays. The designers had the great idea to combine the stadium with a hotel that has windows and balconies that overlook the interior. This would be a good idea if these windows were one-way or at least tinted, because apparently many Canadians feel that clothing is optional when watching the games from the inside of their hotel rooms. According to Fan IQ, such sightings have become so common the hotel staff has to patrol the windows, making certain their occupants are being discrete.

Rio de Janeiro is host to the Maracana Stadium, which features many important soccer matches. The Maracana stadium will be hosting the 2014 World Cup Final and perhaps the Olympics in 2016. It suffers from one major issue: the occupants keep urinating on vital support structures, causing the stadium to suffer from “structural damage by urine.” The problem is so bad the stadium employees anti-urine squads to enforce the “no peeing on walls” rules. Personally, I think I’ll stay at home and watch the Olympics from a less…odorous vantage.

So what caused the power outage, do you think? If we look at the combined knowledge of other stadium epic fails, perhaps the worry of roof collapse caused a worker to urinate on a key structural component, which then shorted out a power box. You know what…blame Beyonce.
