Lindsay Lohan was turned away at her latest attempt to fulfill community service obligations, and reports indicate the troubled actress may be headed to jail due to the issue of arriving to her scheduled service on time.
Lohan was turned away from her slated commitment to do community service at the morgue for the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office after she arrived 20 minutes late to her appointment. Lindsay has been long rumored to have difficulty with punctuality as well as a certain lack of concern when it comes to fulfilling court-mandated terms.
A rep for Lohan says she was turned away for lateness, but that “a combination of not knowing what entrance to go through and confusion caused by the media waiting for her arrival.” The coroner’s office has neither confirmed nor denied a heavy press presence may have interfered with the star’s punctuality on the day she was sent home from her scheduled community service, Thursday.
In the media aftermath, Lohan took to Twitter to explain her catastrophic tardiness, telling fans she was confused and lost and subsequently arrived late. Lindsay explains:
“I’m sorry for the confusion that I may of [sic] caused to those at the Coroner’s office. Won’t happen again, now I know where to go! Thank you for your help.”
The apology may be too little too late, however — as Lohan was turned away, other issues with her case have arisen.
TMZ reports that Lohan’s excuse for missing required appearances due to the flu have been challenged, and the site says:
“As for Lindsay … she’s in trouble. The judge could issue a warrant for her arrest if the excuse proves bogus.”
A lawyer for Lohan insists that the star’s doctor recommended she abstain from flying from New York to appear in Los Angeles for her safety as well as the safety of those on a flight she would board.
