Texas Courthouse Shooting, Suspects Still At Large
11:45 UPDATE – The Kaufman County Prosecutor was killed in the Texas courthouse shooting. The prosecutor was exiting his vehicle in the courthouse parking lot when he was shot five times, KDFW reports. Shooting witnesses told sheriff’s deputies that the prosecutor was ambushed by two men. Two blocks around the Kaufman County building have been blocked off by law enforcement officers.
The Kaufman County Courthouse is on lockdown, as are schools in the vicinity. The manhunt for the two suspected shooters is ongoing. The Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital is also on lockdown, NBC News notes. Texas Department of Public Safety workers on now on scene assisting local law enforcement agencies.
Kaufman County, TX – At least one person has been shot outside of a Texas courthouse. Kaufman County law enforcement officers are reportedly searching for two suspects who fled from the scene. The one known victim was reportedly shot multiple times.
The Texas courthouse shooting occurred just before 9 am local time, Fox News affiliate reports. The shooting happened near a building across from the main wing of the Kaufman County Courthouse.
Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office representative Pa Laney stated that the shooting victim is a county employee. The Texas courthouse shooting victim’s name has not yet been released. Police officers are reportedly searching for an older model silver Ford Taurus.
Both of the Kaufman County Courthouse shooting suspects are dressed in all black – at least one is reportedly wearing a tactical vest.
