iPhone 5 Mini Rumors Say Apple Will Use A Low Budget Plastic Body
An iPhone 5 Mini rumor says that Apple will use a plastic body for its low budget version of the iPhone 5. Photos of this low cost iPhone 5 have leaked, making many tech experts speculate whether we could see this new version of the iPhone 5 sooner rather than later.
Other Apple iPhone rumors say that Apple is preparing three smartphones, which are the “iPhone Math,” a 4-inch iPhone 5S, and perhaps the iPhone 6. As previously reported by The Inquisitr, Apple purchased the biometrics company Authentec which means that future iPhones will certainly feature advanced fingerprint security technology. The iPhone 6 rumors are all over the map, but the iPhone Mini rumors, which is based upon the iPhone 5, say that the device will cost under $250 and launch relatively soon to compete with lower cost smartphones from competitor Samsung.
CNET explains the biggest differences between the iPhone 5 and the rumored low budget Apple iPhone 5 Mini:
“Like the current iPhone, the low-cost version would sport a 4-inch 1,136×640 pixel Retina Display and use the new Lightning interface. The sensor, camera, and button arrangement would all match those found on the iPhone 5. The screen itself would stick with Gorilla Glass, say iLounge’s sources, but the body would be made of plastic.
“The bottom of the phone would take its design from the iPod Touch. Like the Touch, the volume buttons would adopt an elongated pill shape instead of the more circular design from the last few iPhones. The back of the phone would be home to the camera, microphone, and rear flash with the same layout as that on the latest iPod Touch.”
According to Design & Trend, Jeremy Horwitz, Editor-in-Chief of iLounge, says the most significant changes will be in the materials and the lack of curves:
“No, it won’t just be a Retina-and Lightning-equipped refresh of the iPhone 3G or 3GS, Apple’s last plastic iPhones, nor will it look just like an all-plastic version of the iPhone 5. This new model is actually a cross between the iPhone 5, fifth-generation iPod touch, and… wait for it… the iPod classic. Yes, really. It will have a 4? screen, like the iPhone 5, a bottom like the latest iPod touch, and a shape that’s most similar to the iPod classic.”
