Oprah Winfrey, the queen of talk and just plain generous to boot, has been an inspiration for so many, and today celebrates her 59th birthday. She has been a household name with more than 25 years of lessons and enlightenment. Oprah Winfrey gave us the courage to “be the change you want to see in the world” via her own cable television show.
Oprah Winfrey is a living legend. Every time we watch her on TV, we feel a sense of power and energy, truly a force to be reckoned with. Oprah Winfrey’s influence has spread far and wide, and her wisdom inspires, empowers, and educates the masses. Despite being the wealthiest African-American in recent history, she has never been selfish with what she has learned in life, and her generosity never ceases to amaze.
As previously reported in The Inquisitr, Oprah Winfrey has been there for the most troubled of stars as well, such as recently outed athlete Lance Armstrong. As for the bittersweet memories, who can forget Tom Cruise literally jumping on her couch when he was about to marry Katie Holmes?
According to News One, Oprah Winfrey’s love of reading has encouraged the masses to continue doing the same. She has turned reading into a community project, being ever passionate about the written word. Oprah Winfrey has also launched the book sales of many up and coming authors who might not have gotten a chance otherwise.
As previously reported in The Inquisitr, Oprah Winfrey has received her share of negative press as well, including her weight fluctuations and a BMI (Body Mass Index) reading stating that she is obese. Yet the good Oprah Winfrey has done continues to outweigh the media slander.
According to PraisePhilly.com, Oprah Winfrey has been an Oscar-nominated actress, getting a “Best Supporting Actress” nod for The Color Purple. Oprah Winfrey also starred in the movie Beloved.
Oprah Winfrey has done a lot more than most given her position, and for that we wish the media mega-mogul a very happy 59th birthday.
