The latest trailer for the upcoming brawler Injustice: Gods Among Us gives fighting game fanatics a chance to see some of the title’s epic battles in action.
Although the voice work in the embedded trailer isn’t the strongest you’ll encounter in a video game, the story almost always comes second when dealing with a fighting game. Mortal Kombat developers NetherRealm Studios are tackling the brawler, which bodes well for those of us who spend a lot of time fighting complete strangers online.
According to Comic Book Resources , the Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment title will feature a number of people characters from the iconic publisher’s universe. Players will be able to control such memorable characters as Batman, Green Arrow, Cyborg, Harley Quinn, Nightwing, Solomon Grundy, Superman, The Flash, Wonder Woman , and Green Lantern.
This isn’t the first time NetherRealm Studios has attempted to bring several DC characters into a fighting game. The developer’s Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe allowed virtual fighters to pit characters from the popular arcade game against superheroes such as Batman, Superman, and Captain Marvel.
While the game was enjoyable, it certainly wasn’t without its problems. However, NetherRealm stepped up its game with Mortal Kombat , an addictive fighter packaged with great characters, several modes, and the franchise’s trademark penchant for gore and violence.
Joystiq reports that people with money to burn should probably set their sights on the so-called “Battle Edition” of Injustice: Gods Among Us . The collector’s set comes complete with an arcade stick controller covered with superhero-related artwork. This version of the game will set you back around $149.99.
The game will also get another collection’s edition, one that features a comic book, a digital download for an animated movie, and a statuette. This version is priced at around $99.
