Anna Paquin Joins Ellen Page And Shawn Ashmore In ‘X-Men: Days Of Future Past’
The X-Men: Days of Future Past cast continues to grow as actors from both X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: First Class are returning together, most recently Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, and Shawn Ashmore.
According to Access Hollywood, Director Bryan Singer tweeted this afternoon that Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, and Shawn Ashmore will all be back for the film. He followed up thanking former director Brett Ratner for letting their characters (Rogue, Kitty Pryde [Shadowcat], and Iceman) live.
These cast members join other X-Men veteran actors Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, and Hugh Jackman for yet another star-packed blockbuster in the making. As previously reported in The Inquisitr, Patrick Stewart and James McAvoy have talked about their shared role as Professor Xavier and the possible explanation for how he lost his hair.
This makes the sixth X-Men movie Hugh Jackman will have appeared in, even though the last time was an infamous cameo.
X-Men: Days of Future Past, scheduled for release on July 18, 2014, was scripted by Simon Kinberg. According to ComingSoon.net, This film is said to be inspired by the comic book storyline from 1981’s Uncanny X-Men #141 and 142. Days of Future Past introduced an alternate future for Marvel’s mutants that grew from the killing of an important senator by Magneto’s Brotherhood, leading to a future where all mutants are hunted by Sentinels. We caught our first glimpse of a Sentinel in X-Men: The Last Stand and a lot of fans wanted more.
As previously reported in The Inquisitr, January Jones may not be returning for her role as Emma Frost in the film series, so we could be seeing a Kitty Pryde-style recasting.
Very excited to welcome #annapaquin, @ellenpage & @shawnrashmore to #XMen #DaysofFuturePast – thank you @brettratner for letting them live!

Now as for continuity, it is expected that this film will involve time travel between periods taking place after X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: First Class, considering some characters being portrayed by certain actors/actresses would not be possible any other way. Rogue (played by Anna Paquin), hadn’t had a storyline prior to the original X-Men, for one.
We should be seeing a huge film in X-Men: Days of Future Past with the return of Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, and Shawn Ashmore, but some fans are wondering, is it too much?
