Latest ‘RoboCop’ Image Shows Off The EM-208 Humanoid Drone [Photo]
That latest image from the upcoming RoboCop remake shows off what appears to be one of the character’s early suits.
A number of photos from the set of director Jose Padilha’s embattled project have been posted online in the last few months. According to MovieWeb, the latest image to find its way onto the internet gives fans of the series a look at one of the character’s many suits.
Unlike director Paul Verhoeven’s 1987 sci-fi classic, Padilha’s version of the film takes its time getting the suit right. Instead of nailing it right out of the box, OmniCorp burns through a number of designs as it attempts to perfect the technology. The image you see embedded below is thought to be RoboCop’s 1.0 battle armor.
Last year, images showcasing yet another version of the RoboCop suit were leaked online. However, MGM was none too thrilled about the photo and systematically had the offending image removed from a number of movie-oriented websites. Even The Inquisitr was forced to remove the photos.
The folks at Den of Geek have a somewhat different theory as to what the latest image contains. Instead of a suit for fallen cop Alex Murphy, the website suggests the armor is actually something along the same lines as ED-209. Instead of a suit, it could be a robotic soldier in OCP’s technological army.
Until a trailer for the RoboCop remake finds its way online, it’s really anyboby’s guess at this point. However, the image is ripe for speculation.
The film’s official synopsis reads as follows:
“The year is 2029 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the centre of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front. Alex Murphy is a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilises their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex’s life. He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities, but with issues a regular man has never had to face before.”
The photo we originally posted was removed upon the request of MGM.
