Amanda Seyfried As Linda Lovelace: Actress Embraces Chance To Step Away From Good Girl Image
Amanda Seyfried said her role as Linda Lovelace helped her step away from the sweet-girl roles she’s usually taken.
In the upcoming biopic Lovelace, Amanda Seyfried stars as adult film star Linda Lovelace. The movie chronicles Lovelace’s rise to fame after starring in the 1972 adult film Deep Throat. It shows her life working in the X-rated industry and difficult relationship with ex-husband Chuck Traynor.
The New York Daily News reviewed an early clip of the movie, which shows Amanda Seyfried as Linda Lovelace during a photo shoot with her second husband.
“At first I’m closed up like a flower bud and then gradually the petals start to open,” she says in character, “and then I finally learn about myself and I learn how to enjoy sex. And I feel free!”
Seyfried told ABC News last month that she did quite a bit of research for the role as Linda Lovelace.
“I’ve read everything I can possibly read and now I just have to start physically getting into a mode,” she said. “She was such a different person than what we expect. It’s a good story to tell, and I’m really, really excited about it.”
Seyfried added that the role in Lovelace is far outside her normal range as the good-girl in movies, but said she looks forward to the challenge.
“It’s going to be really hard and kind of terrifying at the same time,” Seyfried said. “It’s something completely different. I do have some liberties there but I am playing someone that existed in history and had quite an established reputation for something very extreme.”
The movie almost didn’t have Amanda Seyfried as Linda Lovelace. A number of other actresses were reportedly interested, including Kate Hudson, and the role was originally supposed to go to Lindsay Lohan.
