Eddie Murphy Will Play Axel Foley Again In ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ TV Series
Eddie Murphy is set to reprise his role as Axel Foley for a Beverly Hills Cop television series.
It has been reported that Murphy will now play the father of a young police officer in the show, which shall be produced by CBS. Foley is Murphy’s most infamous film role and it helped to turn the comedian into one of the most popular film actors of the eighties.
The TV series will see the actor Brandon T. Jackson, play Aaron Foley, Axel’s son, and a pilot for the series is currently in pre-production.
You can expect to see Foley Jnr doing battle with the criminals of Beverly Hills through the TV show. Murphy will also act as an executive producer form the series and it will be screened later this year.
Murphy’s cinematic career has recently been derailed after a series of box-office bombs were released. This included, A Thousand Words, which cost $40 million to make and only grossed less than half of that total. However, it hasn’t all been that bad, as he was nominated for an Oscar for his performance as James Thunder Early in Dreamgirls, and was also awarded a Golden Globe for his efforts in the film too.
The Beverly Hills Cop TV show will be written by The Shield’s Shawn Ryan, and has been described by The Hollywood Reporter as “an hourlong crime procedural with comedic elements.”
