Harbaugh Bowl: 2013 Super Bowl Matchup Pits Brother Against Brother

It’s only been a few minutes since the 2013 Super Bowl matchup was decided but we’ve already got a nickname for the game: The Harbaugh Bowl.

John Harbaugh, the coach of the Baltimore Ravens, will square off against his brother Jim Harbaugh, the coach of the San Francisco 49ers, on February 3 at the Super Dome in New Orleans for Super Bowl XLVII.

When asked about the 2012 Super Bowl match up, John said:

“I guarantee it’ll be these guys going against their guys … Two great football teams squaring off. I can’t wait.”

The Shut Down Corner reports that the first time that the Harbaugh’s met on the field was on Thanksgiving night in 2011. More than 10 million people watched as John and the Ravens defeated Jim and the 49ers 16-6. According to USA Today, the 49ers are currently 5 point favorites this time around.

This will be the first time that two brothers will coach against each other in the Super Bowl. There was almost a Harbaugh Bowl last year but both coaches lost in the AFC / NFC title games.

Jack Harbaugh, the father of the two NFL coaches and a longtime coach himself, said before the playoffs that he tries not to pick favorites. Jack said that he was “it one week at a time, one game at a time.”

Well, time is up. Things are about to get awkward in the Harbaugh household.

What do you think of the 2013 Super Bowl matchup? Who do you think will win the Harbaugh Bowl?
