Barack Hussein Obama was sworn in today to being his second term as the 44th President of the United States .
Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. led a brief ceremony at the White House where President Obama took The Oath Of Office. Michelle Obama held a family bible while the President’s two daughters and a small pool of reporters watched the ceremony.
Obama said:
“I Barack Hussein Obama do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States and will to the best of my ability preserve protect and defend the constitution of the United States so help me god.”
The Ticket notes that the oath will be re-administered tomorrow at the U.S. Capitol in front of a larger audience.
Nearly 800,000 people are expected to gather at the National Mall to witness Obama’s second inauguration. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts will be on hand again as President Obama gets sworn into office.
Vice President Joe Biden was sworn in earlier today at the Naval Observatory by Justice Sonia Sotomayor.
