Robert Pattinson died yesterday… thankfully, it was only on Twitter.
Rumors have been circulating over the last few days that the Twilight star had died. And with the recent news that his longtime girlfriend Kristen Stewart had cheated on him , a lot of people apparently believed the rumor.
Pattinson is, however, not dead.
According to Kiss FM, the death hoax started when a message was circulated around Twitter and Facebook claiming that the actor died in a car accident.
The message read:
“Very sad news, especially for all the Twilight fans, Robert Pattinson died in a single car accident on route 80 between Morris-ville and Roswell.”
The website necropedia seemed to confirm the news when they posted an obituary for the Twilight actor.
The fake obituary reads:
“Robert Pattinson, born on May 13, 1986 in London, was a British actor and model. He died on July 29, 2012, at the age of 26…. Friends and family are mourning the loss of a loved one.”
Pattinson is not the first actor to fall victim to a death hoax. In fact, Pattinson himself has been “killed” off a few times before by rumors. But Pattinson isn’t Twitter’s favorite celebrity to kill. By my count, that honor goes to Eddie Murphy, who has been killed at least three times this year alone.
Usher , Vanilla Ice , James Blunt , Paul McCartney , Mr. Bean , Reba McEntire , Adam Sandler , and Robin Williams have also been killed off by rumors this year.
