Bungie To Discuss Building The World Of ‘Destiny’ At GDC 2013

All that we know about Bungie’s new IP under Activision, which we currently know of as Destiny, came from a number of leaked documents late last year.

Bungie is still keeping tight-lipped about the project, unfortunately, but at the 2013 Game Developers Conference the studio will be giving attendees insights into how the studio goes about tackling an all-new IP in a lecture called “Brave New World: New Bungie IP.”

The lecture will be headed up by Bungie design director Joe Staten and art director Christopher Barrett. Although we know that GDC 2013 will be taking place between March 25-29, we don’t know exactly what time and date Bungie’s panel will be held.

Here’s more info, as per the GDC website (via Polygon):

“Two decades of success in the gaming industry is no small feat, but after ten years of Halo, Bungie found themselves faced with a tremendous challenge: to build a whole new world, filled with even more amazing mysteries, places, creatures, and opportunities for player investment.

“Attendees will walk away with key insights into Bungie’s battle-tested design process. They’ll get a glimpse of the brave new world that has been built, a place where the next ten years of great Bungie adventures will unfold.”

Destiny will be the first Bungie-developed game as part of their 10-year partnership with publishing giant Activision. The agreement reportedly calls for a new game every other year with downloadable content and/or expansions to fill in the gaps.

Are you looking forward to seeing what Bungie’s next game looks like?
