Mindy Kaling Returning To ‘The Office?’ Kelly Kapoor May Return For Series Finale

Mindy Kaling hasn’t been on The Office recently but she could be returning to Dunder Miflin before the end of the year.

Kaling, who has moved on to star in her own show, The Mindy Project, said that she hopes to rejoin her cast mates for the series finale.

Kaling said:

“My schedule’s pretty tough but I would love to come back … I love The Office. I feel like whenever I go there it’s like coming home.”

And this isn’t just some dream that Kaling has. The actress has been talking to executive producer Gregg Daniels about making a comeback to the show.

Kaling told Access Hollywood:

“I don’t wanna like, miss out on the last moment … So [executive producer] Greg Daniels and I were talking this weekend and we’re gonna try to make it work so I can come back and do one.”

Mindy Kaling returning to The Office would be a pleasant sight for fans of the show but she isn’t the only name being thrown around for the series finale. Fans have been dying to know if Steve Carell will return as Michael Scott one last time before the show ends its run in May.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like Carell will return as Michael Scott.

NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt said:

“I’m hopeful, but I don’t think [Carell] will be back … He left in the way that he wanted that character to leave … There’s maybe a little Hail Mary pass on a cameo, but I think the decision is that he [doesn’t want to compromise] his [original] exit.”
