Britney Spears After Sitcom Role While ‘X Factor’ Wants Her Back

While there was much talk about how it was only a matter of time before Britney Spears got the boot from X Factor, it seems as though that was a bit premature. In fact, it looks like the producers really do want Spears back, which would make sense considering she’s seen as a ratings tool even though their ratings weren’t “all that” this season. However, they were better than their debut season.

During a conference Fox president Kevin Reilly said of Spears:

“People remain fascinated with [Spears] and always will be. She’s just an interesting figure who’s lived a unique life, and I thought she brought some of that. Maybe some people were waiting for more drastic displays of some nature that never came.”

So the X Factor wants Britney Spears back on the judges panel? Great, right? Well, herein lies the problem. According to sources, Spears wants back on scripted television, and is currently eyeing a sitcom to spread her talents elsewhere. Spears, for the better part of X Factor looked aloof, is said to be eyeing a role despite Fox’s wishes.

“Britney’s manager, Larry Rudolph, is reading television scripts that the singer could accept. Britney’s dad, Jamie feels that having his daughter on a sitcom would be a good fit for her. ” The source continues, “There is also a possibility that Britney could get her own television sitcom, but that appears to be more of a long shot.”

The source even boldly goes on to saying that Spears absolutely “will not return” from another season of X Factor, and has decided that she is finished with the one-year contract she’s signed. There’s no word on if fire-y Demi Lovato is returning to the series, but it looks like X Factor could use her, given the fact that LA Reid is set to exit the show as well.

This isn’t the first time Britney has been after a sitcom. She’s had roles on How I Met Your Mother and Fox’s very own Glee.
