‘Anchorman 2’ Set Theft: Bandits Make Off With $300,00 Worth Of Wire
Atlanta, GA – A group of thieves reportedly struck the set of the upcoming comedy Anchorman 2, making off with around $300,000 worth of wire in the process.
In addition to quite a bit of wire, the bandits who struck the production also made off with several computers. According to Cinema Blend, the theft is just one of many breaks-in that have occurred in the area over the past few weeks.
In order to catch the person or persons responsible for the theft, a $5,000 reward is currently being offered to anyone who can provide information about the suspects. If this information leads to an arrest, then you can collect your prize.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the break-in took place on December 27. However, the set of Anchorman 2 wasn’t the only building hit in the area; a warehouse down the road from the production was also burglarized around the same time.
The website also states that an apartment near the set of the upcoming comedy was hit prior to the wire theft. As of this writing, the persons responsible for the crime have yet to be captured by police.
Directed by Adam McKay, Anchorman 2 is tentatively scheduled to arrive in theaters towards the end of the year. The filmmaker told Empire that the story will revolve around Ron Burgundy and crew’s ability to handle the shift in broadcast journalism.
He said of the movie’s plot:
“We’re going to be throwing a lot of innovation at them, and they’re not going to handle it well. It’s right when all the news started changing with the 24-hours news cycle in 78 or 79.
“All of a sudden, local news stations diversified and had Latino anchors and African-American anchors, and any time you’re talking about diversity and the Action News team, that’s always fun to deal with.”
Anchorman: The Legend Continues opens in the US on December 20.
