Bethenny Frankel Officially Files For Divorce After Announcing Split Last Month
It’s official — after announcing a split last month, Bethenny Frankel files for divorce from husband Jason Hoppy over the weekend.
The Real Housewives star made her split from Hoppy public in December, but it’s only now that the new year strikes that Frankel finally files for divorce, TMZ reported. It’s not known exactly why the delay took place, but it appears that Frankel did not take the decision lightly. She and Hoppy have a two-and-a-half year-old daughter, Bryn.
“It brings me great sadness to say that Jason and I are separating,” Frankel said in a statement before she files for divorce. “This was an extremely difficult decision that as a woman and a mother, I have to accept as the best choice for our family.”
Frankel also spoke about the divorce on Twitter, thanking those who had been supportive. To those who had judged her, Frankel said: “I totally get it.”
The divorce could be a costly one, US Weekly reported. The 42-year-old Frankel made about $55 million from mid 2010 to mid 2011 through a variety of ventures. She has done work on television on Real Housewives in addition to her business venture, Skinny Girl. She has also published four New York Times bestselling books, exercise DVDs, and a line of shapewear sold at Macy’s.
Now that Frankel files for divorce, the couple will have to find a way to divvy up the $5 million apartment they shared in New York City. A source told Us Weekly that Bethenny and Bryn will probably keep staying in the apartment, which is in the same building where Beyonce and Jay-Z live.
