Boston Mayor Claims VP Biden ‘Guaranteed’ Gun Control Legislation By The End Of The Month
Boston Mayor Thomas Menino claims that Vice President Joe Biden “guaranteed” President Barack Obama will pass gun control legislation by the end of January.
Mayor Menino is a reportedly a staunch gun control advocate who has allegedly been on the mend from health issues during the last several months, according to The Blaze. Vice President Biden called the Boston Mayor several times while he was in the hospital recently. One of the phone conversations between the mayor and the vice president occurred after the tragic Sandy Hook shooting in Newtown, the Boston Herald reports.
Mayor Thomas Menino had this to say about the Obama administration’s stance on gun control while at City Hall on Thursday:
“He [Joe Biden] said, ‘Tommy, I guarantee you, we’ll get it done by the end of January. They’re going to get it done. I understand the Second Amendment, the right to bear arms. But I don’t understand how young kids should be able to get guns.”
Mayor Menino also stated that President Obama has “no excuse” not to pass a strong gun control law. The Boston leader noted that since the president is now entering his second term in office he does not have to be concerned with upsetting gun rights voters or the National Rifle Association (NRA).
New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino co-chair the Mayors Against Illegals Guns group. The organization reportedly consisted of 500 elected officials who are calling for federal gun reform legislation in response to the Newtown shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
