World’s Shortest Escalator Is 38 Inches Tall [Video]
Too lazy to walk about five steps? Well, if you happen to be in More’s Department Store in Kawasaki, Japan you can ride the world’s shortest escalator.
According to UPI, the world’s shortest escalator is just 32.8 inches tall and covers the distance of about five steps.
Guinness may have certified More’s escalator as the shortest in the world but the record keepers didn’t see too impressed with the moving staircase.
Guinness simply writes in its entry: “The world’s shortest escalator in the Kawasaki More’s department store in Japan. It has even been certified by the Guinness Book of Records in 1989.”
The escalator at More’s in Japan was certified as the smallest in the world by Guinness in 1989 but it only recently gained some web notoriety thanks to YouTube user hippykiller1.
And thankfully, the YouTube user gives a much better description of his experience.
The YouTube user writes: “It is a thing of beauty and magnificence. I rode the escalator 7 times and it was a glorious experience.”
