Ann Curry Allegedly Wants Out Of ‘Today’ Contract So She Can Move To CNN
Ann Curry allegedly asked the Today show to let her out of her contract so she can make the move to CNN. As previously reported by The Inquisitr, rumors about Jeff Zucker wanting the former morning show co-anchor to follow him to CNN began circulating earlier this month.
A Radar Online source allegedly close to the Today show had this to say about Curry’s alleged contract request:
“Ann wants out of her contract, big time. She has formally asked her attorney to explore exit options from the network. However, NBC bosses have indicated they are unwilling to release Ann from the contract. If Ann were to just quit, there is a non-compete clause, which would prohibit her from working for another news outlet for two years.”
Curry’s tearful good-bye from the Today show couch earlier this year sparked outrage with show fans. Matt Lauer has taken the brunt of the public backlash. The Today show has been beaten in the ratings multiple times after Curry’s demotion by top competitor Good Morning America.
Lauer’s popularity has reportedly taken quite a hit recently. NBC has allegedly urged Ann Curry and Matt Lauer to have lunch in a public place to help thwart the ongoing angst about the co-host’s departure, according to the New York Daily News.
The source also claims that Ann Curry’s attorney could be able to make a breach of contract case due to her change in stature on the Today show. Before making the move to CNN, Jeff Zucker was Curry’s old boss on Today. Rumors about Curry’s relocating to CNN also alleged that she would be given the prime time 8 pm slot, currently used by Anderson Cooper.
