‘The Punisher’ Actors Would Like To Do A Marvel Studios Crossover
The Punisher is set to debut on Netflix in 10 days, and actors Jon Bernthal and Deborah Ann Woll are already discussing crossing over into the MCU.
Marvel fans have longed for crossovers between their favorite characters who are spread out across different entities. Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and now the Punisher himself all belong to Marvel Studios but have been limited to Netflix. There wouldn’t be an argument over rights, and the characters could be written in at any point.
When Jon Bernthal and Deborah Ann Woll sat down with ABC (via Comicbook.com) to discuss the upcoming show, the actors admitted they would be very interested in doing a crossover to the big screen. Like any good actor, they had their reservations based on the quality of a potential script.
Bernthal has a deep connection to his character, Frank Castle, whom he says is “really in my heart, in my blood and my bones.” The actor said if Castle was done right in a crossover, that he would be all in for the transition.
Woll felt the same way, admitting that she loved her character, Karen Page. The actress also claimed she wouldn’t want to be Karen without Bernthal as Castle, so that would have to be set up in order for her to be on board with a crossover.
In the comics, Castle has had several run-ins with Captain America and Spider-Man, so a crossover is definitely a possibility.
A little over a year ago, it was rumored that Netflix Marvel heroes would be crossing over into Avengers: Infinity War. Several fan art images showed the characters alongside Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor. This has never been confirmed.
Back in May, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige spoke with i09 and said, “At some point, there’s going to be a crossover,” referring to the multiple Marvel television shows and movies.
This could include Netflix series or shows like ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo even admitted they wouldn’t rule out any character when it came to the third Avengers flick. The brothers have promised multiple character surprises in the upcoming movie, so fans are keeping their fingers crossed.
The Punisher debuts on November 17.
