Sex and the City co-stars Sarah Jessica Parker and Cynthia Nixon reunited on Sunday night at a screening for the new Amazon series Love You More. While Nixon gushed on Instagram about how great the new series, directed by Bobcat Goldthwait is going to be, we just couldn’t help but notice how friendly the former HBO stars looked in their photo together. Comedian Bridget Everett and SATC executive producer Michael Patrick King were also in the photo.
The photo of Sarah Jessica Parker and Cynthia Nixon together has fans hoping that Sex and the City 3 really may happen and isn’t just a pipe dream. After all, Parker confirmed plans to make a third movie have been canceled back in September according to People .
The saga over whether or not the Sex and the City franchise was over has been a recurring theme since 2010. It was during press for the second SATC film when Sarah Jessica Parker said she wasn’t sure when it would end. Chris Noth cleared up all confusing around the same time by pronouncing the franchise dead and blaming it on the critics, who were not impressed with the second movie.
That didn’t stop speculation over a third movie based on the HBO series. For years, Kristin Davis has been holding out hope for the chance to reprise her role as Charlotte. Meanwhile, Parker, who played the lead as Carrie Bradshaw, never led on fans and insisted that there was no talk of another sequel.
Despite overwhelming support for another Sex and the City film, it was reported that production couldn’t move forward because they couldn’t get the entire cast on board. Rumors have flown for quite some time that Kim Cattrall isn’t easy to work with. When it came to making Sex and the City 3, she reportedly made some over-the-top demands, making it impossible to pull off another movie.
Ultimately, Cattrall has said that she never agreed to return for another run as Samantha. She has since made it clear that she doesn’t want to do another Sex and the City movie, meaning that a third is simply out of the question at this point.
That leads to a question about Kristin Davis, who still hasn’t given up on making another movie with her Sex and the City co-stars. As recently as this year, Kristin said she was hoping that something would change in order for the film to be made.
“I’m just grateful. I know my co-stars are grateful as well that we have the fan support, that we have each other, that we love each other,” Davis told E! News at the 2017 Princess Grace Awards Gala. “Maybe we’ll figure out something to do, I don’t know, it would be great.”
