Camryn Grimes has been playing the character of Mariah Copeland on The Young and the Restless since 2014, and she had started on Y&R in the role of Cassie Newman back in 1997. Grimes has had plenty of meaty storylines over the years, but some of her recent scenes really stood out to both viewers and soap industry colleagues. Grimes’ emotional moments with on-screen mother Sharon and potential romantic interest Tessa during last week’s shows garnered high praise from many.
During recent episodes of Young and Restless , Camryn Grimes’ Mariah opened up to her mother Sharon about her attraction to Tessa. This left Sharon a bit stunned, but with her mother’s encouragement, Mariah had an emotional one-on-one with Tessa about the kiss they shared and the feelings that have grown. Y&R fans declared Grimes’ scenes during these interactions to be beautiful and powerful and many noted that they thought they may be worthy of winning an Emmy.
After the powerful scenes, Camryn took to Twitter to thank fans for their support. She thanked everybody from the bottom of her heart, noting that all of the messages she had received as the emotional Y&R scenes aired prompted her to spend some quiet time at home, listening to music and shedding some tears.
Got home, put on some music & shed some tears over the responses Ive gotten the past 2 days.
From the bottom of my heart, thank u. ?? #YR

Unfortunately, there are plenty of posts criticizing the Young and Restless actress and the storyline. However, Grimes never shies away from standing up for herself or co-star Fairbanks when people get too harsh and these days, the positives seem to overshadow the negatives. As these latest scenes aired, Camryn not only got plenty of praise from Y&R fans but from others in the soap industry as well. Jason Thompson, who plays Billy Abbott, tweeted that Grimes and Fairbanks have done great work with this storyline and he added that the praise is well deserved.
Erin Hayley, who currently plays Kiki Jerome on General Hospital , tweeted that the scenes were beautiful and that she was crying. Grimes thanked co-star Fairbanks, television mom Sharon Case, and executive producer and head writer Mal Young for their leadership and performances. The Young and the Restless viewers noticed that even actor Michael Muhney tweeted about Camryn’s performance in this Tessa storyline.
Brava @camryngrimes your scenes today on #YR with @sharonlcase were incredible. Outstanding. Give this girl an Emmy every year, forever. ??

As Young and Restless folks know, Muhney played Adam Newman for several years and fans were stunned when he was let go from the role. There are Y&R fans consistently buzzing about the idea of bringing him back to the role, but for now, Muhney remains away from Young and Restless . In the midst of these latest scenes involving Camryn, Michael said that those recent moments were outstanding and incredible. Muhney added that he thinks Grimes should be given an Emmy every year, forever.
Fairbanks, who has gotten a lot of criticism from people on social media throughout this storyline, thanked everybody for the kind messages as well. Cait said it means the world to have all of the support and many Young and Restless viewers are anxious to see where things head next. Some might say that the show hasn’t always seemed to know what to do with Grimes in this return as Mariah and Y&R fans hope that these latest intense moments will spur the writers to come up with more heavy-duty action for the actress.
Are you a fan of the work Camryn Grimes and Cait Fairbanks have been doing as Mariah Copeland and Tessa Porter on Y&R ? What do you think the writers should put together as a storyline to take full advantage of Grimes’ acting chops in the episodes ahead?
