Netflix Officially Fires Kevin Spacey From ‘House Of Cards,’ Will Go No Further With Him
The saga that is Kevin Spacey and his coming out as gay after being accused of sexual assault is far from over as Netflix has officially fired him from House of Cards. When the accusations were first made against him, the streaming giant said that Season 6, currently in production, would be the final one, but things appear to have changed. At this point, Netflix has said it will go no further with Spacey on House of Cards or anything else.
Along with his firing from the hit series, it has also been said that the biopic on Gore Vidal, which was set to star Spacey, has also been cancelled. A spokesperson for Netflix released a statement pretty much letting it be known that the company is parting ways with him on everything, according to TV Line.
“Netflix will not be involved with any further production of House of Cards that includes Kevin Spacey. We will continue to work with MRC during this hiatus time to evaluate our path forward as it relates to the show. We have also decided we will not be moving forward with the release of the film Gore, which was in post-production, starring and produced by Kevin Spacey.”
Earlier this week, production of Season 6 of House of Cards was suspended indefinitely and it now appears as if it may never have a complete ending.

Everything came about when actor Anthony Rapp accused the two-time Oscar winner of sexually assaulting him back in 1986 when he was only 14 years old. A couple of days later, CAA and Staci Wolfe, Spacey’s publicist, dropped him.
Scotland Yard also opened an investigation into Spacey after claims came through that he had sexually assaulted a male actor in London some time ago.
After the first claims of sexual assault and harassment were brought against Kevin Spacey, Netflix immediately said that Season 6 of House of Cards would be its final one. Then, production of the show was suspended and no one knew when it would pick back up, but now, it seems it may never do so.
Netflix has started frantically trying to create a number of spinoff shows to help save House of Cards, but there is no official word on their status.
Kevin Spacey is seeking treatment after these sexual harassment allegations came out against him, but a lot of damage has already been done. Those affiliated with him want nothing more to do with him and his hit show has now been shut down and Netflix has fired him completely. It appears as if House of Cards may forever be in limbo without any sort of wrap-up ending, but it’s hard for anyone to say they didn’t see this coming.
