A former member of NXT’s Sanity faction has announced his release from WWE. When the group first debuted, it consisted of Eric Young, Alexander Wolfe, Sawyer Fulton, and Nikki Cross. However, when WWE acquired indy star Big Damo, Killian Dain was born, and Sanity sought after him to be a member. Unfortunately, Fulton also became injured around this time and was storyline written out of the group. The faction remained Young, Wolfe, Dain, and Cross, and Fulton was never brought back.
Today, Fulton announced his departure from the company after being inactive on television for quite some time. After being written off of Sanity in late-2016, Fulton returned from injury and started competing on NXT Live events beginning in the spring of this year. After a few wins upon his return, his record took a swift nosedive, as he began to lose a series of matches against names such as Roderick Strong, Danny Burch, and Nick Miller. Most recently, Fulton racked up a couple more losses at live events from Lio Rush and Tian Bing.
The former Sanity member recently expressed his feelings by way of a letter and posted it on Twitter for his fans to see. From the letter, it appears that he is excited about what is to come.
Fulton stated that there are a lot of feelings going on in his head right now. This is very common, due to the typical competitor not being excited about the news that their relationship with the WWE has to end. He went on in his letter to thank everyone who supported him in the WWE over the past five years, as he made his NXT debut in October of 2012. He admitted that he worked as hard as possible to come back from his injury, but it did “not work out” regarding getting back to a prominent position on NXT TV.
Fulton, 27, also added that he is still young and vowed to Coach Matt Bloom and Senior Director of Talent Canyon Ceman that he will return to the WWE and will continue to prove that he is a “great professional wrestler.” He promises to show this at the new set of crowds he will be competing in front of, outside of WWE.
