Kate Middleton’s Uncle Faces Trial On Charges He Attacked His Wife On The Street

Gary Goldsmith, the uncle of Kate Middleton (the Duchess of Cambridge), is headed for trial after he was officially charged with assaulting his wife on the street in front of their house. Goldsmith, who is the brother of Kate Middleton’s mother, Carole Goldsmith Middleton, was arrested two weeks ago, but his hearing was delayed after Goldsmith asked if he could be released with a simple warning. But the decision was not because it was decided that Kate Middleton’s uncle needed to face charges for the domestic violence incident.

The entire event outside of the Goldsmith home in London was seen by the cab driver who had just driven Gary Goldsmith and his wife Julie-Ann Goldsmith home from the private club, Home, where Julie-Ann Goldsmith accused Kate Middleton’s uncle of using too much cocaine. The cab driver, Daniel Shepherd, is the one who called the police and tried to get Gary Goldsmith to stop hitting his wife. Shepherd said that it started with yelling but got heated as they stepped out of the car. He said that after Gary Goldsmith started hitting his wife, he yelled at him.

“He was screaming and swearing at her and she slapped him round the face and his glasses fell off. He then turned and hit her in the face with a left hook. She fell and cracked her head on the pavement.”

It’s confirmed that Gary Goldsmith will now face a judge since the charges are now in place, and Goldsmith’s attempt at getting off with a warning was rejected. Chief Magistrate Emma Arbuthnot (the U.K. equivalent of a judge) spoke to the court and explained that Goldsmith’s case was being held over for trial.

“There was a request from the defence that came in to the court for a two-week adjournment so that a caution could be looked at.”

The next hearing for Princess Kates’s uncle, Gary Goldsmith, will be on November 14.

Kate Middleton’s uncle, Gary Goldsmith, who is said to be worth approximately $30 million, has been married for a few years to his fourth wife, Julie-Ann. On October 13 after their fight, Julie-Ann Goldsmith was taken to the hospital by ambulance after reportedly being struck by her husband.

For the hearing yesterday, there seemed to be some confusion about whether or not Gary Goldsmith needed to attend (Goldsmith said that his lawyers told him he didn’t need to attend, while the magistrate clearly expected him, and seemed annoyed that Goldsmith skipped the hearing ). The charges against Kate Middleton’s uncle are “assault while beating” which carries a six-month jail term and/or an unlimited fine to be determined by the court. Gary Goldsmith is able to continue to be free on bail.

But while Gary Goldsmith will most likely end up with a fine and probation, Kensington Palace reportedly is not amused by the antics of Princess Kate’s “bad boy” uncle. The attack by Goldsmith against his wife is being called a senseless act of domestic violence. A source from within royal circles says that the idea that Kate’s uncle was led away in handcuffs is humiliating for Princess Kate and the Middleton family, not to mention Prince William and Queen Elizabeth.

“Kate is beside herself, she couldn’t believe it when she found out. She was so worried about Julie-Ann and so angry at Gary for apparently hurting her and dragging their family name through the mud.”

Sources say that when Kate Middleton started dating Prince William, her uncle Gary Goldsmith was caught doing cocaine in front of a journalist, and it hit the papers. Cocaine use by Middleton’s uncle reportedly caused a lot of problems with Queen Elizabeth, and Kate doesn’t want to deal with that again.

Another source says that more than anything, Princess Kate and Prince William were worried about Julie-Ann.

“Now there’s another scandal, and it’s just so awful. When Wills and Kate found out that cops had been called to the scene, and Julie-Ann had been taken away in an ambulance, they were sick with worry.”

Are you surprised that Kate Middleton’s uncle Gary Goldsmith didn’t get off with a warning as was requested? Do you think Goldsmith will go to jail?
