Sega and Gearbox Software have unleashed another cinematic trailer for the upcoming first person shooter Aliens: Colonial Marines .
Like the previous trailer released earlier this year, the developers have chosen to present their game as a kind of interactive motion picture experience. As such, those who are hoping to get a glimpse of the game in action will have to wait until the very end of the trailer for the good stuff.
According to Kotaku , the story takes placed between the events of Aliens and Aliens 3 . In fact, a wounded Corporal Hicks makes an appearance towards the beginning of the clip to help set the stage.
The setup is pretty simple: Marines are getting slaughtered by an alien presence, which the trailer describes as “”the most dangerous killing machines in the universe.” Your job is to wipe the threat from the face of the planet. Of course, this will be much easier said than done.
The game’s official description reads as follows:
“In ‘Aliens: Colonial Marines,’ players are part of a United States Colonial Marine squad and must prepare to face an Aliens assault more intense and horrific than ever before. Players must destroy the enemy with classic Aliens weaponry ranging from pulse rifles to flamethrowers as well as brand-new equipment.”
According to Joystiq , Sega originally announced that self-proclaimed “true sequel” to James Cameron’s Aliens would be released in fall of 2012. What’s more, the company stated Colonial Marines might be a launch title for the Nintendo Wii U.
Unfortunately for anxious gamers, Sega pushed the title back to February 12, 2013. Although the game will be available on PC, Xbox 360, and Playstation 3 on that date, it appears the Wii U version will arrive at some point down the road.
