‘Chicago P.D.’, ‘SEAL Team,’ And More Preempted For World Series
The World Series has gone into Game 7. While fans of FOX shows expected to hear their shows had been preempted for the night, fans of shows on other networks weren’t certain. NBC and CBS have now officially decided to cancel their shows for the night, which means Chicago P.D., SEAL Team, Criminal Minds, and Law & Order: SVU will not air new episodes on Nov. 1, 2017.
Both networks have decided their 8/7c programming will remain as normal. Survivor and The Blacklist will have new episodes as expected. According to Deadline, ABC has confirmed that it is definitely not canceling any of its programming tonight. The CW also has no plans to change its scheduled new episodes of Riverdale and Dynasty.
The changes to the schedule aren’t much of a surprise, even to non-baseball fans. Tuesday night’s viewing figures were down across the board as the World Series went into Game 6. The networks won’t want to risk anything by pitting some of their strongest shows against the seventh game in the baseball tournament.
This is not the first time the networks have canceled at the last minute for the World Series. In 2016, both CBS and NBC made last minute decisions to change their lineup for the week. The Inquisitr reported NCIS, Bull, and NCIS: New Orleans were canceled by CBS in favor of Game 6 of the World Series, although NBC had kept its original programming. On the Wednesday night, CBS and NBC canceled all their 9/8c and 10/9c shows because of Game 7.

The networks that are canceling their new programming have stated they will air repeats instead. SEAL Team fans will get two older episodes of the freshman show in the 9/8c and 10/9c slots. NBC will air repeats of Law & Order: SUV and then Chicago P.D.
As expected, all FOX programming has been canceled in favor of the World Series. The same occurred last night. Hidden Remote reported that Brooklyn Nine-Nine was canceled at the last minute, despite promos throughout the previous two weeks stating that a new episode would air after a scheduled week’s break. FOX will air the full game.
Chicago P.D., SEAL Team and all other scheduling will return to normal next Wednesday.
