Wes Anderson’s ‘Grand Budapest Hotel’ Gets An Official Cast List
Critically lauded director Wes Anderson has revealed the cast for his next film, titled The Grand Budapest Hotel, and as previously reported, Johnny Depp didn’t make the cut.
Following his success on 2012’s Moonrise Kingdom, the quirky and artistic indie director is teaming up with old friends and new faces for Grand Budapest Hotel. ScreenRant reports that in addition to longtime collaborators Bill Murray, Jason Schwartzman, and Owen Wilson, Moonrise Kingdom actors Tilda Swinton and Edward Norton have signed on, as have new faces like Ralph Fiennes and Jude Law.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Anderson teased the plot to Grand Budapest Hotel, and revealed the full cast list:
“Well, yes, [my next film is] Grand Budapest Hotel. It’s a Euro movie. It’s a period picture. I can tell you the cast — maybe you already know the cast, but I can tell you properly who it is: We have Ralph Fiennes, and we have Tilda Swinton and Jeff Goldblum, Willem Dafoe, we have F. Murray Abraham and Jude Law, and we’ve got Adrien Brody, Edward Norton, Harvey Keitel, Jason Schwartzman, Bill Murray, and Mathieu Amalric. And I think Owen [Wilson] is gonna have a little part, too. Oh, Saoirse Ronan has quite a big part. I’m thinking if I’ve forgotten anybody. Yeah, we have a good group.”
Other Anderson “firsts” in that list include F. Murray Abraham, Mathieu Amalric, and Saoirse Ronan. Everyone else listed has been in one (or all) of Anderson’s films thus far.
Grand Budapest Hotel starts filming next year, with a late 2014 release planned. Are you a fan of Wes Anderson’s films?
