Stone Cold Steve Austin Making Huge Appearance For New Japan Pro Wrestling?
Recently, it was reported that Stone Cold Steve Austin could be making his return to WWE programming at WWE Survivor Series. It’s rumored that he’s up for a major role as the Special Guest Referee for the match between Brock Lesnar and Jinder Mahal at the event. The PPV takes place in Houston this year, so it would be a good place to make his first appearance for the company since WrestleMania 32 almost two years ago.
Stone Cold has made it really clear that he’s retired and doesn’t want to appear on WWE television for that many appearances. He will be backstage for a show or go to the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony, but he’s not fond of appearing on camera that much anymore. However, he’s also being rumored for a huge appearance with New Japan Pro Wrestling and a major superstar wants to bring him to Wrestle Kingdom 12 next year.
In the past, The Young Bucks threw out the idea for Hulk Hogan to be a part of The Bullet Club’s entrance during a recent interview. Marty Scurll had the same idea, but he had a different wrestling legend in mind in The Texas Rattlesnake. “The Villain” didn’t mention him specifically, but he described the legend as the one who “likes to drink a little beer, raise a little hell. Put up the middle finger.” Who else could that be?
Wrestle Kingdom isn’t until January. It will be some time before wrestling fans know if Austin is interested in making an appearance for New Japan. The event is one of the biggest of the year and it would be a major surprise to see Stone Cold Steve Austin as a part of the show. As of this writing, The Texas Rattlesnake has not responded to Scurll’s coy invitation, but there is no denying that it would be something truly special.
The fact is, Stone Cold’s recent contract with WWE has expired and there is nothing stopping him from the appearance if he’s interested. Someone like Stone Cold Steve Austin is busy enough without having to make the trip to Japan just to appear for an entrance. There are a lot of people that would love to see Austin be a part of Wrestle Kingdom 12, but fans will just need to wait until January to see or wait for him to respond.
