Blake Shelton And Adam Levine Reportedly ‘Drifted Apart,’ Are ‘The Voice’ Coaches Still Friends?
Could there be trouble in the bromance department for The Voice’s resident coaches Blake Shelton and Adam Levine? Though they’ve always enjoyed a close friendship – despite their jokey tension on the NBC show – sources are claiming that the two have allegedly been “drifting apart” lately.
Although they’ve become almost as famous for their close friendship as they are for their music after growing close on The Voice since they first sat alongside each other on the very first season back in 2011, new reports are claiming that their once very close bond has allegedly seemed a little more “forced” recently.
That’s according to new claims made by Life & Style, as the gossip magazine is alleging that Shelton and Levine’s once close friendship “has cooled off” somewhat as of late as they sit alongside Miley Cyrus and Jennifer Hudson on the currently airing season of the NBC show.
Noting that the two are still play fighting in front of the cameras and have still been showing off the friendly banter fans of the show have come to know and love, the outlet’s The Voice insider claimed that “they definitely aren’t as close as they once were” right now and alleged that it’s been showing backstage.

According to the insider, Blake and Adam’s friendship is “not as natural as it once was” while their interactions behind the scenes now “seemed forced.”
“They’ve definitely drifted apart,” the source then added.
Shelton and Levine haven’t commented on the rumors, though E! News noted earlier this month that the twosome had been having a little tension on the popular NBC singing show during the current round of shows.
Blake joked that he initially started off the season trying to be a little nicer to Adam after years of rivalry, but admitted that being too nice to the Maroon 5 singer just wasn’t for him.
“Adam and I tried to start off this season getting along. And we did—for about half a day there. All of a sudden, the second that he and I both wanted somebody on our team, that’s when it all fell apart,” the country star admitted. “That’s when his true colors came through. I’m going to blame all this on Adam.”
Levine then joked that the moment their rivalry returned Shelton “broke [his] heart.”
“I was ready for him, and we started hating each other, and everything was as it should’ve been,” he added of Blake.
But while neither have spoken out regarding reports claiming their friendship may have hit a bit of a rough patch lately, both have described the other as being one of their closest friends in the past.
Speaking to People in February, Blake confessed that “all of the bulls***” between them that fans see on the show only ever “comes from a place of love.”
“He’s one of the most loving people I’ve ever known,” the “I’ll Name the Dogs” singer said of his fellow coach. “We drive each other nuts, but outside of this world, [Adam’s] one of my best friends and it’s because of his heart. He needs his face slapped around, but he has a huge, huge heart.”
But despite all the rumors of tension, if Shelton and Levine really are going through a rough patch with their friendship, it seems like they’ll have plenty of time to make amends.
Both Adam and Blake will be appearing on the remainder of The Voice Season 13 until it ends in December, while NBC have also confirmed that the stars will also be returning next year for Season 14 where they’ll be joined by returning coach Alicia Keys and newbie Kelly Clarkson.
The Voice Season 13 airs on Monday and Tuesday nights on NBC.
