A Brand New Hotel Is Coming To The Disneyland Resort And Will Open In 2021
It has been almost two decades since the Disneyland Resort has had a brand Four Diamond hotel open on their property, but that is all about to change. It was announced on Wednesday afternoon that a 700-room hotel is going to open on the west end of the Downtown Disney District in 2021, and it is set to transform that entire area and open a new gateway into the resort.
On Wednesday, the Disney Parks Blog announced the big news that a new resort would be joining the Disneyland Hotel, Paradise Pier, and Grand Californian by 2021. Being called a “game-changer” of a resort, this new resort hotel is going to be something that offers “dynamic dining, entertainment, and hotel experience for resort visitors and local residents.”
One of the coolest things about this new resort is that its location helps it bring in the Disneyland Monorail in a brand new way for the west coast. It will have a dedicated platform inside the hotel that will allow for direct transportation into Disneyland park.
Included in the hotel will be an upper-level restaurant and lounge, which will present guests with a clear and beautiful view of the fireworks from Disneyland.

This new hotel is going to bring about a number of changes to the Downtown Disney District, but more news on that is expected to come at a later time.
With the Disney Parks Blog stating that this new hotel will transform the west end of Disneyland Resort, there will likely be a number of big changes. The concept art makes it appear as if locations such as the AMC Theaters, ESPN Zone, Earl of Sandwich, and Starbucks will end up closing due to the construction.
According to the OC Register, these locations will end up closing and could move into the hotel one construction is complete.
On the bottom level of the hotel, there will be a number of shops and restaurants which open out into a plaza with lush landscapes, playful water features, and gathering places for guests. The gardens will also connect all four hotels at Disneyland through walkways and a Disneyland Resort-only entry for guests.
Construction is scheduled to begin on this new Four Diamond hotel in the summer of 2018 and it is scheduled to open sometime in 2021. This is huge news for the Disneyland Resort, as even more guests will have the opportunity to stay on property in just a few years, and it’s going to completely change the landscape of the vacation destination.
