Marilyn Manson Fires Bassist Twiggy Ramirez After Sexual Assault Claims
Twiggy Ramirez, whose real name is Jeordie White, has played bass for Marilyn Manson for more than 20 years, but the shock rocker announced on Tuesday that they would be parting ways. Manson didn’t elaborate as to why he opted to fire his longtime bassist right in the middle of a tour; it didn’t need to be said. The separation comes after allegations of rape that took place more than 20 years ago.
It seems that the Harvey Weinstein scandal, coupled with the #MeToo campaign, has ripped the bandages off some old wounds. One of the women to come forward with accusations of sexual assault is Jessicka Addams, the lead singer of the band Jack Off Jill. Addams was also the longtime girlfriend of former Marilyn Manson bassist Twiggy Ramirez.
Jessicka and Twiggy dated back in the 90s when Marilyn Manson was at the height of popularity. While Addams did say that her relationship itself was abusive, the Guardian reports that the incident she chronicled in a recent Facebook post happened after they broke up.
To make matters worse, Jessicka Addams claims that she wanted to go public with her story and get some sort of justice. She claims that her record company warned her in 1997 to stay silent about the alleged rape because if she didn’t, her band would likely be blackballed by concert promoters and others in the industry. Her full Facebook post can be seen here.

“Jack Off Jill was also warned of running the risk of losing our coveted record deal (which they gave us!!,) as they were certain no one would ever take a rape victim in this male dominated music business seriously,” Jessicka wrote. “Nevermind a ferocious, disenfranchised, outspoken overweight front woman such as myself! The label blatantly feared the big machine behind Marilyn Manson would use their power to destroy not only Jack Off Jill, but my name, Jessicka, as well. The pressure and guilt of the inevitable repercussions of my rape story affecting my band’s livelihood, happiness and success kept me silent for years.”
It just goes to show that many of the sins that have plagued Hollywood were also prevalent in the music industry. Addams was told not to make waves about the alleged rape or risk ruining not only her own career but also the careers of her bandmates.
After Jessicka Addams’ shocking rape revelation, Marilyn Manson issued a statement. He claimed to have never heard about what his former bandmate Twiggy Ramirez allegedly did to her. Despite being in the middle of a tour and having to deal with the replacement of a veteran rock star, Marilyn opted to do the right thing.
I have decided to part ways with Jeordie White as a member of Marilyn Manson. He will be replaced for the upcoming tour. I wish him well.

Earlier this month, Marilyn Manson was forced to cancel nine tour dates in order to recover from an injury incurred while performing. Many fans are hoping that the band can bring another bassist on board in time to finish up the tour. It’s still not certain how they plan to move forward.
